Roadie
Auto-picks your ranked mic and output on Mac
Roadie lives in the macOS menu bar and sets the system default input and output devices. You rank microphones and speakers once; on reconnects, wake-ups or when macOS switches on its own, Roadie picks the highest-ranked connected device. A manual choice wins, corrections can be undone with one click, and automatic switching can be paused at any time.
The app never records audio and needs no microphone permission; rules and device names stay on your Mac per the developer. Network access is limited to trial verification and Dodo Payments license checks, with a 24-hour offline grace. Requires macOS 13 or later. The current early-access build 0.9.9 is not notarized, so the first launch needs confirmation in Privacy & Security. Apps pinned to a named device, like some meeting apps, bypass Roadie.
Why no subscription? After the full 7-day trial, Roadie is a one-time $9.99 license for up to 3 Macs with lifetime updates.
