Pahkui
Set default apps for file types on your Mac
Pahkui gathers Mac file associations in one place. Start from an installed app to see its formats and current defaults, or search an extension such as .pdf to see which installed apps can open it. Pending changes can be reviewed before macOS applies them. Requires macOS 14 or later.
The free version covers common document, image, audio, video, and archive formats; Pro unlocks all supported formats. Pahkui does not add format support to an app — the chosen app must still be able to read the file. Everyday use works offline; internet access updates formats and recommendations and activates and periodically checks the Pro license. A license can be moved by deactivating one Mac and activating another via your account.
Why no subscription? Pro is a one-time purchase: $8.99 for one Mac, $16.99 for three (USD). The license covers Pahkui 1.x.
