The Orator: Speech Prompter
Teleprompter and cue cards for speeches
The Orator shows your script as scrolling text or cue cards on iPhone and iPad. Paste text or import TXT, Markdown and RTF files, then split or merge sections. A short reading exercise measures a comfortable pace; movement runs automatically or manually, with pause marks, pause/resume and planned versus used time per section alongside overall elapsed time.
An .orator file holds the text, formatting, timing, reading settings and saved reading position, and can be stored in Files or iCloud Drive and opened on another device; each device keeps its own local library. The beta “voice follow” recognizes speech on device and requires iOS or iPadOS 26; the developer states audio and recognition results are not saved as files or sent to a developer server.
Why no subscription? One personal script is free. A one-time in-app purchase, Full Unlock at $2.99, adds multiple scripts, duplication, records of past talks and voice follow. The developer states no subscription, advertising or separate app account is required.
