SplashDuo
Turns your MacBook lid motion into a screen effect
SplashDuo is a Mac app that makes your desktop react to MacBook lid movement: the perspective tilts, shading deepens, or a progressive frosted-glass effect builds up. Three styles are included — Clear, Dusk and Crystal — each with controls for where the animation starts and ends, Crystal strength, and an opening sound.
On supported MacBooks, Follow Lid tracks the physical display continuously; a manual angle mode covers demos and unsupported Macs. The developer states the screen is processed locally, with captured frames used only for the live effect and never saved or uploaded. Screen Recording permission is required for this. It needs macOS 14 or later, weighs 2.9 MB and ships in seven languages.
Why no subscription? SplashDuo is a one-time $3.99 purchase on the Mac App Store, with Family Sharing support. No monthly fee for a purely visual effect.
