LightTable
Free digital darkroom with realistic film simulation
LightTable is an open-source, non-destructive digital darkroom for macOS (Apple silicon only), Windows and Linux. A Rust core with GPU-driven rendering handles processing, with curves, color grading, masks, healing and cloning, plus HDR merging, panoramas and focus stacking. RAW files from 1,275 cameras are supported, and lens corrections use matching Lensfun profiles.
Film simulation is built on Spektrafilm and models exposure, development, print paper, filtration and scanning — 23 film stocks, grain scaled by stock and format, halation and diffusion. You can import a Lightroom Classic catalog with ratings, keywords and collections, plus XMP and legacy .lrtemplate presets; the app reports what it converted and what it skipped. Optional AI subject recognition on macOS runs local models. Export to TIFF, JPEG, PNG, and HEIF on macOS.
Why no subscription? The app is free and open-source — no recurring fees, with development happening in the open on GitHub.
