Folder Lock Vault wraps a chosen folder into an AES-256 encrypted sparsebundle image — a format macOS ships with and mounts natively. You pick the folder, set a passphrase and choose where the vault itself lives; from then on the contents exist only in encrypted form.

The workflow is deliberately cautious: the app verifies the encrypted copy first and only then moves the original to the Trash, rather than deleting it outright. To work with your files you unlock the vault and it appears as an ordinary volume in Finder; one click closes it again — technically by unmounting the image, not through some app-level access flag.

There is no account, no cloud service and no syncing: the vault is a file you back up or carry yourself. The app is $4.99 once on the Mac App Store (HK$38 in Hong Kong), with no in-app purchases.

Why no subscription? The encryption comes from the operating system and no server is involved. The well-known vault services still bill monthly — here you pay once for the interface on top.
